This is my newest series but until I can develop it further, I will leave it in Open Forms. It is a begining concept done in wax. The elemental vibration of it has to do with the whole of existence and non-existence...of the interface of all of that. Of living in the world and living in the nature of mind. Mahamudra is the practice of that way of living.
This photo was taken August 2008 when I took a month long retreat here at the farm. I had these roses of the deepest beauty and had recently acquired a globe of lapis lazule. I was taking shots of the art with the roses in the intense August sunlight.
Just this month, January, 2009, I came across a wonderful dream flag, conceived by the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, and the flag is in blue and yellow, named "Namkhyen Gyaldar " (Victorious Flag of Buddha's Wisdom). I purchased the flag from Radiant Heart Studios, www.PrayerFlags.com
There are three sets of meanings for the image, the outer meaning, the inner meaning, and the secret meaning. The secret meaning has the blue symbolizing emptiness-wisdom and the yellow represents compassionate action. The wave is Mahamudra: union of compassion and wisdom - the ultimate realization of one's true nature.
And so my practice of art once again unites the segments of my life into a unified whole.
